Faithfulness: Caught not Taught

My notes to share, from the message "Activate" taught by Dr. Allan Bagg

I am a steward of the "mysteries of God". (1 Cor. 4:1-2) We are stewards over everything God gave us. The work God called us to do, is work He needs done. Stewards are to be found "faithful". Faithfulness can't be taught, it is caught.

What is Faithfulness?
- We are not good. God is good! We should honor God with our lives and not use rationale to excuse our shortcomings.
"Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, But who can find a faithful man?" Prov. 20:6
- We should endeavor or strive to be "faithful".
"And the things that you have heard from me among many witnesses, commit these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also." 2 Tim. 2:2
"And the [instructions] which you have heard from me along with many witnesses, transmit and entrust [as a deposit] to reliable and faithful men who will be competent and qualified to teach others also." 2 Tim. 2:2 (AMP)

- One aspect of faithfulness is to be "Full of Faith".

Faithful Dr. Allan Bagg

• Transforming into Faithfulness:
(1) "Know when to keep your mouth shut."
Whether in counseling/leadership/home, some things are confidential. We don't keep secrets but some things are private.
Example given: When we are told a secret to keep but revealing the 'secret' to one person we can 'trust', but we all have one person who we 'trust'...before we know, we all know the 'secret'. "If the person you are talking to, is not really part of the solution, then keep your mouth shut."
"A talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter." Prov. 11:13

(2) "Minister strength to your Pastor/Church/Home Cell."
Speak to build up and edify and declare the Word of God. We represent the authority over us and we promote the vision we are under.
"If you want to kill a man's vision, give him another." - Dr. Allan Bagg
"A wicked messenger falls into trouble, But a faithful ambassador brings health." Prov. 13:17

(3) "Always speak the Truth."
Walk in Truth. A lie is connected to the "Father of lies." (satan) If a person does not abide in the truth, then they are serving the Kingdom of darkness.
"A faithful witness does not lie, But a false witness will utter lies." Prov. 14:5

(4) "The Faithful doesn't have to proclaim his/her goodness but it will be revealed. He/She is humble." Acknowledge that God is doing the work. Being humble is, "submitting yourself under the almighty God." 1 Peter 5:6
"Most men will proclaim each his own goodness, But who can find a faithful man?" Prov. 20:6

Rewards of Faithfulness

I thank God that we are in a Church where the "Set Man" (Senior Pastor) teaches the full and uncompromising Word of God (Bible). As part of the family of God in a local body (Church) I like to always expound on what was taught and build my faith. That is also why we discuss Sunday's Word in Home Cell at The Bay Christian Family Church, to also focus on application and practicing what we were taught.

Here are some of my thoughts after this weekends services. I trust you can use it in Home Cell and also for further study:

Activate Body of Christ

Title: "Activate"

Subtitle: 'Understanding church government, and your role in your local church.'

1 Cor. 12:12
• God sets each one where they need to be.
• We should all desire the "best gift. Which gift is that? The one you need at the right time.
• Do not place unnecessary expectation on someone. Establish your expectation on the Word of God.
• "I am a member of the body of Christ, but I am not independent."
• What is my role in the Church? (Leaders; Members; Pastors; Staff...):

[Dr. Allan will be explaining this to us from the Word, for the next few weeks.]

(ROLE ONE) - The Senior Pastor

  • He is after the "heart of God" and not the "heart of men".
  • Visionary Leader (Ex. 18:14+; Acts 6:3):

(1) Prays for the people
(2) Teacher of the Word and Spiritual Leader

  • Communicate to the people what he hears from God:

(1) Visionary (show the way..)
(2) Set a plan (show them the work..)
(3) Delegate the work (select men)
(4) Release them (let them do work)
Jeremiah 3:15 "I will give you shepherds.."

  • Will always follow Gods voice and not the peoples voice.
  • "Teach-Feed" not "Teach-Tend"
  • Jeremiah 23:4 "fold" = The sheep "fold" as revered to here, is more speaking of a structure like a fortress, not a "flock". This shepherd's heart is to make sure we are: Fruitful; Increasing and Fed; not dismayed and lacking nothing.

Part 2 below

I call this "Part 2" because Dr. Allan still amazed us with continuing with (ROLE ONE, as above)

(Pls. see "PART 1" on my blog above.)

(Here are some points that was recapped, although Dr. Allan spend a lot of time going over what was taught previously, emphasizing the role of the Shepherd/Pastor. He stated; "the reason I'm teaching this is not for me, but for you." It's vital for us to know where we fit into Gods structure of authority today. God is a God of order.)

• As the body of Christ, our first priority is to seek and save those who are lost.
• A household (Church) needs to be in order. We all need to know our place; call or activity. We all have a responsibility.
God gives us our shepherds (Pastor), we don't shop around for one. Let's follow His "heart" and leading. (Jeremiah 3:15)
• Our shepherd feeds us with "knowledge and understanding".
• The shepherd teaches us "knowledge" and "understanding".
• Pastor defined is "One who feeds sheep".
Be careful of what you expect of your Pastor and why God put them in our lives. (1) People should "seek" the Word and guidance of God.
"For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge, And people should seek the law from his mouth; For he is the messenger of the Lord of hosts." Mal. 2:7
• Some things you might not have if you don't have a Pastor. (Eph. 4:12+)
(1) "God Himself gave...for the equipping.." - If I don't have a Pastor I won't be equipped.
(2) "for the work of ministry" - If I don't have a Pastor, I won't succeed in my call, because I won't be equipped for it.
(3) "unity of the faith" - If I don't have a Pastor, we won't experience unity in Faith.
(4) "every wind of doctrine" - If I don't have a Pastor, I won't have truth or set doctrine. A Pastor will speak the "truth in love".
Growth of the body comes when "each part does its share." (Eph. 4)

(Dr. Allan started sharing these points with us from a powerful book. He gave recognition to Dr. Mark as the author and is a partner with him ministry. He ran out of time and so, we are looking forward to him continuing this after Come Celebrate '13)

Dr. Mark Barkley '7 Ways to Relate to our Pastor':
(1) Receive your Pastor as they are a gift from God. Especially if you don't agree with them, as long as they teach the full Word of God. The Pastor and the member fills a part of a team of God. "It's amazing how many people know how to run a church, that's never run one." The same as the role of a Doctor, we might not agree with what they are doing, but they know what we need and we need to receive their gift. (Eph. 4:11)

Amazing clip below! Look at this in context of, you being the lamb and your Shepherd/Pastor looking after you...

Words won't Hurt you, They can Kill you! Part 1

◊◊◊ Click like/send/tweet/+1/Pin... →

We all know the rhyme:
"Sticks and stones will break my bones, But words will never harm me."

Ever wondered where this came from? Well, the earliest citation of it that I can find is from an American periodical with a largely black audience, The Christian Recorder, March 1862: "'Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never harm me.' True courage consists in doing what is right, despite the jeers and sneers of our companions."

It is true to a large sense that we should be moved by what other say to us and we should believe in ourselves etc...but let's not forget what the Word of God says;

Proverbs 18:21
"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits."

Before I get too carried away, let me share what I feel this is talking about. As we look at the verse I would like to ask; What the part, 'those who love it' mean? In other words, love what? (Read it again?) Most people first reply; "the tongue" which is not really correct. I believe it is saying, Whatever you love, (whatever is in your heart when you speak) you will eat those fruit or results in your life. (Read it again now with this thought in mind)

So, once again as we know, Faith is, "having believed, I speak". It is vital that we Speak the Word and Believe what we say in our hearts. It is vital that we don't speak or act on what we feel but to keep applying "faith pressure" to what God has promised us. You will have (manifested in the natural) what you know you have received (in the spirit).

Abundance of Grace

As shared by brother Donavan Doc West at cell last night. He said something so true; "Why are we always sowing for breakthrough? When are we going to sow out of abundance? When are we going to stop sowing from the last bit we have and start living in the place where we can give from the cream of the crop, from the first amount of our abundance right after the tithe?"
