If all we had for our information was the media and what people are saying, one could be very worried. It seems that there are so many serious problems in the world today…wars, political turmoil, financial stresses, serious diseases, lawlessness, corruption running rampant…the list seems to go on and on. I heard someone ask the other day, “What next…I feel so helpless?”
The good news is that the media and the fears of people are not our only source of information. We have a much higher report. Jesus said in John 16:33,
These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
Yes, we may see these things happening around us, but we do not allow them to affect us. If you are born again you are in Jesus and in Him you have peace.
Not only that, Jesus has given us authority over circumstances. He told us in Matthew 16:19,
And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven [authority], and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
We have been given the responsibility for ensuring that the will of God be done on this earth...and Jesus said that we do that through prayer (Matthew 6:10). Now, more than ever before, I hear the Holy Spirit calling us to take up our places and to bring our part in praying.
Someone may say, “But I don’t know what to pray for”.
Paul told us in Romans 8:26,
Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
Notice that he said we do not know what we should pray for as we supposed to. That is because very often we allow our worries and concerns to influence what we say and ask for. We think we know what the solution should be and can very likely pray incorrectly contrary to God’s will.
However, when I allow the Holy Spirit to guide my prayer, I pray His perfect will. He knows exactly what needs to be said and will prompt us with these prayers in our hearts. Paul teaches us that these intercessions are with groanings which cannot be uttered. In other words, they are not an intelligible human language. This talks about praying in your heavenly prayer language, or praying in tongues. He wrote in his letter 1 Corinthians 14:14-15,
For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful. 15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit [tongues], and I will also pray with the understanding [my earthly language]. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.
If you are not yet praying in your heavenly prayer language, find a spirit-filled believer who is and ask them to pray for and with you to step into this wonderful way of praying. The Holy Spirit already lives in your heart…all that needs to happen now is to receive by faith.
As we pray under His guidance, we are praying God’s perfect will and He is able to answer His own prayer that He has given us to pray on the earth.
I believe that as Christians around the world unite this way, we will see the forces of darkness pushed back and a great outpouring of God’s Spirit fall on multitudes as revival sweeps this land.
You and I together are in partnership to see multitudes hear the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ and to come to Him as their Saviour.
And remember, we pray for you this way every day!
You are blessed!
